Fairfield Street

This house had a beautiful deep backyard but no easy access to it, both visually and functionally.  Instead, a large asphalt driveway created a visual and physical barrier to enjoying the woodsy park-like backyard the owners had lovingly created.  By removing the asphalt and limiting it to the side, a two-story bump-out of only 150 square feet on two floors, encompassing a new kitchen and breakfast area, a new deck with a screened in porch below and a staircase that cascades into the backyard was added so that the family can experience the outdoors in many ways and seasons both from within and without.
